Denied-party screening of customers and destinations

Every customer, consignee and forwarder screened against the US, UK, EU and UN lists, then again each time a list changes. Every destination checked against the embargoes and high-risk transit countries named in official guidance. Built for distributors who sell to hundreds of companies in dozens of countries.

The problem

Lists change every week. A customer screened when the account was opened can be listed months later, and diversion networks change names and use new companies and forwarders all the time. Checking names by hand on several government websites, with transliterations of Russian and Chinese names, does not scale, and leaves no record of what was checked.

How VetLane does it

  1. Import your customers and, with your orders, the consignees and forwarders named on them.
  2. Screen every name against the official lists: the US Consolidated Screening List (Entity List and SDN List among others), the EU consolidated list, the UK Sanctions List and the UN list, refreshed every day, and the military end users of EU Regulation 833/2014, transcribed from the regulation. Near matches and transliterations are found by fixed, explainable matching rules.
  3. Check the destination and the route: embargoes, sanctions regimes and high-risk transit countries per jurisdiction, a delivery country different from the billing one, a forwarder as consignee.
  4. Score and prioritise: the VetLane Score adds the product, destination and party signals, so the riskiest customers and orders come first.
  5. Decide and record: you confirm or dismiss each match with a reason; the decision is kept, and a dismissed match does not come back unless the list entry changes.
  6. Watch: when a list changes, your customers are screened again and you hear from us only if a result changed.

On the Pro plan: a pre-shipment check for each order, change alerts within 24 hours, and an ownership index that screens your customers' parent companies from the GLEIF register, useful for the OFAC 50 percent rule and the BIS 50% rule.

Statuses, not verdicts

Each customer shows "0 match", "Alert to check" or "Match to review", with the list, version and similarity behind it. VetLane never tells you a sale is allowed: it shows what was found so that you can decide, and keeps the record of your decision.
